Theater und Interaktion

(Lecture Performance in Interaction)

Bring your own device!

Theater and Interaction

(Lecture performance in interaction)

The Academy for Theater and Digitality (https://theater.digital/ ) is a globally unique model project for digital innovation, artistic research, and technology-oriented education and training for all performing arts disciplines. The focus of artistic research is the question of how digital tools can be used meaningfully and sensually on, in front of and behind the stage: So, what might a theater of the future look like that is open to digital transformation and its possibilities?

Michael Eickhoff and Mario Simon present research and work areas of the Dortmund Academy in an interactive lecture: The audience decides by majority vote which topics and questions will be addressed. Bring your own device!

Michael Eickhoff studied history, German, and sociology in Bielefeld and Paris. After more than 20 years of artistic work in various functions at numerous German-speaking theaters, he has been part of the Academy since the summer of 2020. He is responsible here, among other things, for (international) networking and cooperation between art, science, business, and (cultural) politics.

Mario Simon worked at Schauspiel Dortmund from 2013-2020 under the directorship of Kay Voges as a video artist and head of the video department - where he worked among others with the directors Marcus Lobbes, Claudia Bauer, Jörg Buttgereit and repeatedly at various theaters with Kay Voges. In 2017 Mario Simon was awarded the Young Talent Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. At the Academy, Mario Simon is responsible for audio-visual media technology and audio-video production.
