„Intuition und Improvisation in der Editorial-Fotografie“
ABSTRACT
Urban Zintel wird anhand seiner Bilder Einblicke in seine Arbeitsweise geben und von seinen Erfahrungen und Herausforderungen aus 20 Jahren Editorial-Fotografie berichten.
Selbstzweifel, Höhenflüge und brennende Fragen:
Was, wenn die Location nichts taugt? Was, wenn es gar keine gibt?
Sind 2 Minuten genug, um den Bundespräsidenten zu porträtieren? Was, wenn man ein Titel-Porträt um 12 Uhr mittags im direkten Sonnenlicht auf einem Boot machen muss? Wie brichst du das Eis, wenn die härteste Tür vor dir steht? Warum sind Gruppenfotos der Endgegner? Wie kam Deichkind mit dem Schlauchboot aufs Dach? Wieso war ich das perfekte Opfer für Bushido?
Urban Zintel wird 1980 am Rande des Bayerischen Walds geboren. Im Alter von 15 Jahren verlässt er die Schule und beginnt in einem kleinen niederbayerischen Porträtstudio eine Lehre als Fotograf – nach drei Jahren grundsolider handwerklicher Ausbildung (Hochzeitsfotos! Babyporträts! Erotikkalender!) geht er an die Münchener Fotoschule und macht dort 2002 seinen Abschluss. Seit 20 Jahren arbeitet er für die großen deutschen Zeitungen, Magazine, Agenturen und Verlage. Urban Zintel lebt und arbeitet seit 2009 in Berlin. ABSTRACT
Urban Zintel will use his images to provide insights into his working methods and talk about his experiences and challenges from 20 years of editorial photography.
Self-doubt, flights of fancy, and burning questions:
What if the location could be better? What if there isn't one at all?
Are 2 minutes enough to take a portrait of the German president? What if you have to do a cover portrait at 12 noon in direct sunlight on a boat? How do you break the ice when the most challenging door is in front of you? Why are group photos the final enemy? How did Deichkind get on the roof with the inflatable boat? Why was I the perfect victim for Bushido?
Urban Zintel was born in 1980 on the edge of the Bavarian Forest. At the age of 15, he leaves school and begins an apprenticeship as a photographer in a tiny Lower Bavarian portrait studio - after three years of rock-solid technical training (wedding photos! baby portraits! erotic calendars!), he goes to the Munich Photo School and graduates there in 2002. For 20 years, he has been working for major German newspapers, magazines, agencies, and publishers. Urban Zintel has lived and worked in Berlin since 2009.
