FAQs for international applicants

We are pleased that you want to study as an international student at the design department!
Here you will find information on how to apply for an exchange semester or a full-time course (Bachelor or Master). You can also find information about the study programs of our department and everything related to your stay here.

There are various ways to apply. This depends on what you want to apply for, your country of origin and your university.

Choose from the following options:

  1. Exchange semester for students of an EU * partner university (ERASMUS)
  2. Exchange semester for students of a non-EU * partner university
  3. Exchange semester for freemovers (no partnership between universities)
  4. Full-time Bachelor degree for EU applicants
  5. Full-time Bachelor degree for non-EU applicants
  6. Full-time Master's degree for EU applicants AND non-EU applicants

* Your country of origin or country of study is a member of the European Union. As EU citizens and with these equals:

  • EU nationals
  • Non-EU nationals who have acquired their university entrance qualification within the EU or Liechtenstein, Norway or Iceland
  • Citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA): Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland
  • Non-EU nationals who live in Germany and are married to an EU or EEA national who is employed in Germany
  • Non-EU citizens who live in Germany and have a parent who is an EU or EEA citizen and who works or has worked in Germany
